100 Days of My Youth (Day 97): Holes

“When they continued to question Him, He straightened up and said to them, “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to cast a stone at her.” John 8:7 in the bible is a whole mood, folks.

When I fumbled on it today, a myriad of scenarios came racing back to my head about just how we humans have continued to treat each other. I was carried away by just how the reality of our life today continues to put us in a rather tight spot than make us better beings. We are always challenged with situations where we have to simply flash light within ourselves first before we castigate anyone else.

Time and again, every when a youth in my circles does something wrong, often times, we are quick to judge them, throw tantrums at them and ridicule them. We continue to bare no amount of remorse at heart when such times come, we hide behind our dark skins and spew out hate to our fellow people.

Every youth out there has a secret or something sort of issue they’re going through, some have habits that have continued to have a serious toll on them and they’re really struggling to feel like they’re worthy of being in society.

Let’s admit it, we all have holes one way or the other, we aren’t fully perfect as humans, we are battling a thing or two, an addition or habit that may be really embarrassing to tell. At some point, we don’t feel deserving enough of the people we are and the friends we have. However, the earlier we learn to appreciate the fact that we all have holes inside us but we are simply struggling to carry on without breaking down then this world will be a better place.

If you are ever caught up in a situation where you have to be the guy that is throwing tantrums, spewing hate, spreading propaganda or even ‘casting a stone’, pause and look through yourself? Are you any better? Are you perfect? Well, what if it were you in that spot? Don’t you mess up at some point? But hey, if you must then go right ahead. If it will make them a better person, go on.

We are out here trying to write the stories of our lives and the sad bit is we don’t have pencils to write them but rather pens that won’t grant us another opportunity to erase a mistake & write something else. See we don’t have a chance to re-write each day that goes by but we do hold the power to make it a happy ending or improve on our story as time goes on.

Remember, while you might be going through shit, something else out there is probably going through even worse. Cheer Up mate, we all have holes in our heart, souls, wallets and emotions but we surely hold our heads up high and carry on!
